Welcome to the page about Rock Music. One of my favorite groups is Queen. Rock is a natural solid material made up of minerals. It forms the Earth’s crust and comes in three main types. Igneous rocks form when molten magma cools and hardens, like granite and basalt. Sedimentary rocks are created from layers of sediment that get compacted over time, such as sandstone and limestone. Metamorphic rocks start as other rocks but change under heat and pressure, like marble and slate. Rocks are important because they shape landscapes and provide materials for building, tools, and art. Studying rocks, called petrology, helps scientists learn about Earth’s history and processes. Overall, rocks are fundamental to understanding geology and the natural world around us.
